Artist Statement
As plants emerge in the garden, I become aware of the visual interweaving of their growth. My observations of nature reveal patterns, layers, and details that influence my painting. My eye lingers on trailing vines, flower buds opening, seed heads exploding, leaves emerging and fading. The process of painting is a recording of my visual dialogue in the moment, a discovery not so much premeditated as a reaction to the first mark my brush makes. Painting choices evolve into layers, creating repeated forms within the structure using color, line, and texture—metaphors that tell a story.
