Deanna Jacome

Artist Statement

Deanna Jacome is an interdisciplinary painter exploring the intimacy of place, sustainable materials, and making practices that embody the tiniest moments becoming monumental. The slow and often ancient techniques used in her mixed-media practice interconnect oil paints that are hand-ground from earth pigments, as well as sustainably sourced fibers, dyes, and collage materials that are found or foraged from her direct environment and community. Through the creation of large-scale & highly detailed mixed-media works, Jacome expresses the magic, strength, and connection found in mindful everyday experiences that deepen her connection to materiality, the land, and our resources.
